The Chai symbol consists of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet Het (ח) and Yod (י). In the Hebrew language, the word chai (חי) spelled by these two letters means "living", and is related to the word for "life", chaim, and also appears in the slogan am yisrael chai (עם ישראל חי, "The people of Israel live!).
During the Feast of Tabernacles, four large lamps were lit, in the Temple’s court of the women. Nightly celebration took place with dancing and singing songs of praise, accompanied by the Temple orchestras. Yeshua took this opportunity to speak to the people. When Yeshua spoke again to the people, he said “I am the light of the world.. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”(John 8:12) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105) The menorah is a perfect portrait of Messiah, Yeshua, both in the Old and New Testaments. He, alone, is the Living Menorah, who brings the holy light of the Eternal God into the hearts and lives of those who believe in Him.
